ARHUS – On her way to the World Games in China, Charlotte Sörensen won her fourth Danish title in the run-up tot he world event. The reigning world champion defeated three opponents in a four-player tournament held at the Århus billiard club. The four players took turns facing each other.
Charlotte Sörensen started against Nana Petersen and played her best game in that match: 25-12 in 19 innings. In the second match, Sörensen narrowly was the better of Marianne Mortensen (25-24), and in the last match she secured her title against Jeanette Jensen. Nana Petersen finished second with two good matches averaging between 0.8 and 1.
‘I feel relieved because it's my first serious test for the World Games,’ said Charlotte Sörensen after the championship.
In addition to Therese Klompenhouwer and Charlotte Sörensen, Karina Jetten and Gülsen Degener will also represent Europe at the World Games in China. The tournament will be played with 8 players and it’s the first time in history that women's billiards has been included in the Games. It is not yet known which groups will play at the World Games.
Charlotte Sörensen is number 1 in the world rankings with 230 ranking points, ahead of Therese Klompenhouwer with 155 and Karina Jetten with 128. The top five also includes Jackeline Perez from Peru and Johana Sandoval from Colombia.
