SEOUL – At the stadium of the PBA, the Korean professional league, Ga-young Kim once again seized power in the duel with another star player, Sruong Pheavy, on Sunday evening. The two Asian ladies put on a spectacular show in the final, in which Ga-young Kim secured her second victory of the season and the 17th victory of her PBA career. It is a pity that this top Korean three-cushion player will not be able to shine with the stars of the UMB in the upcoming world championship due to the unrecognized status of the Korean league. Ga-young Kim, a former pool player, has emerged in the PBA tournaments as perhaps the best player in the world. She won again in the final against Sruong Pheavy with great averages in a six-set match: 4-2 for the Korean against the Cambodian player. The averages are impressive despite the double scores for single cushion points. Ga-young Kim only made three in the six sets, so there is no disputing the set averages of 1.222, 1.429, 5.500, 0.750, 1.833, and 1.000.
Sruong Pheavy kept pace until 2-2 in sets. Kim won the first 11-9, Pheavy the second 10-11, then it was 11-4 and 6-11, and finally Kim won 11-4 and 11-4. The eventual winner also defeated Seul-gi Han 3-1 in her last match before the final and Orie Hida, multiple former UMB world champion, 3-2.
The men's semifinals will be between Duc Anh Chien Nguyen and Sung won Choi and between Seung-lin Lee and Min-gu Kang.
