ZUNDERT - The frontman is coming back to where he felt at home. Roland Forthomme returns to the STZ Zundert team from next season, where he was the home child and favorite of the home crowd for many years. The Belgian was away for more than two years, playing for De Biljartacademie, but will be Zundert's leading player again next year. ’’I always felt at home there, I’m happy to be back there next year,‘’ Forthomme said in a first comment.
The Belgian played two national final matches with Zundert in his history there and was the team's undisputed leader for many years. One day at D'n Hoek, Forthomme even played the world record run (28), which he now shares with four other players. The departure from his current team, De Biljartacademie, which is at the bottom of the premier league, was inevitable, as sponsorship for next year became a problem. ’’I immediately called Hans Snellen from Zundert, because that is my first choice,‘’ Forthomme assured.
Louis Havermans, the press officer, announced the final decision this afternoon. Roland Forthomme returns to Zundert, where he will play with Sergio Jimenez, Sam van Etten, Rik van Beers and Francis Forton.
So, Forthomme, who is the idol of many people in the home crowd, who is playing at the Belgian championships in Blankenberge this week, will combine competing in Belgium (Herstaco) from next year with the Netherlands again at the highest level, with a team in France, as much as possible in Germany and occasionally in Portugal. He belongs in the Dutch premier league, so the choice was not difficult.
Louis Havermans and Hans Snellen cherish the new frontman for next season. ‘’We are very happy that he is returning, it feels great, like he is back on the old nest.‘’
The Kozoom league, the Dutch premier league, also welcomed world class players such as Torbjörn Blomdahl, Tayfun Tasdemir and Sameh Sidhom in recent weeks. With Forthomme maintaining the premier league, the level will only get stronger.
