OOSTERHOUT – Wheelchair billiards player Jan Vos will make his premier league debut this Sunday. He is the first wheelchair player ever in the first Dutch league. The former café owner from Daarlerveen will play for the Harwig/OERbesitas team from Den Ham against Team Eekhoorn. Jan Vos plays against Kurt Ceulemans, the recent organizer of the World Cup and the World Championship in Lint. Sunday's matches are for the 7th round of the Kozoom League. The most notable match is between Team Babbelz and Bousema/JBScues, the two finalists from the previous season's premier league.
Team Babbelz will field one of its strongest line-ups for this home match, with the exception of Dion Nelin. Frédéric Caudron is the captain, Berkay Karakurt at second, and the other two other players are Davy van Havere and Jack Wijnen. The opponent, the reigning cup winner, will field a super-strong team featuring two world-class players. Tayfun Tasdemir is the captain, Martin Horn the second. These are the two finalists of the World Cup in Lint two weeks ago. Martin Horn won the World Cup in the final against Tasdemir 50-36 in 31 innings.
Tayfun Tasdemir will face Frédéric Caudron on Sunday, and Martin Horn plays Berkay Karakurt. The Bousema team is completed by Jeffrey Jorissen and Stefan Galla. Team Babbelz is top of the rankings with 11 points out of 6, while Bousema is two points down. Aartsbouw is between these two teams with 10 match points.
The Cues&Darts champions face RCN Nieuwegein in a home match, which will field two Dutch and two Belgian players. Cues&Darts will field its three Dutch players: Glenn Hofman, Huub Wilkowski, and Therese Klompenhouwer. The second-placed player is Ruben Legazpi. Cues&Darts is fourth in the rankings, three points behind Babbelz. Team Eekhoorn and Dallinga also hold that position with 8 match points.
Dallinga's match against Aartsbouw is unusual because its two leaders are missing. Eddy Merckx and Jean Paul de Bruijn are playing in Denmark this weekend and are skipping the Premier league match. Peter De Backer is the leader for Dallinga, Turgay Orak for Aartsbouw. The Dallinga team includes two Zeeland players and two Belgians. For Zeeland, these are Joris van 't Zelfden and Berry Dallinga.
SIS/Vervoort plays Burgmans at home, with Jean van Erp as the leader and Ronny Lindemann as the strong player in the third position. Tom Löwe and Bart Ceulemans are the leaders for Burgmans. Paperclip and Van Baal face Jaspers-Forthomme in a top match.
